Welcome to the Hononegah Lions Website! Established in 1982, The Hononegah Lions is a competitive program with teams from U10 through high school with several teams ranked at high levels in their divisions. It is a competitive program, with licensed coaches, that helps young people develop their soccer skills to a high level while at the same time recognizing the importance of players to develop into well rounded individuals by recognizing their need to participate in other activities. The Lions program has reasonable annual fees to allow more players the opportunity to participate in this great sport. Our Boys teams play in the Northern Illinois Soccer League (NISL) and our Girls teams play in the Illinois Women's Soccer League (IWSL). Membership in a "Club" Team When parents and players consider club soccer, they are often intimidated at the prospect of daily practices, that may cause them to miss out on other activities or on school sports, and the time and expense of travel to play in numerous out of state tournaments. The thought of that type of commitment and sacrifice unfortunately keeps many young and talented players from joining teams and taking their soccer playing to a higher level. The Hononegah Lions are not your typical Club team. We believe that young players should develop as a whole person in addition to advancing their level of soccer skill. We want soccer to be a priority activity during the season but, we encourage players to participate in other activities off season. Unlike some other clubs, we want our players to play on their school teams as it is important for their social and scholastic development. Our typical team will practice twice a week during the season, play in two to three tournaments ( most are local and virtually all are within a 90 minute drive) and have one game each weekend ( some weekends will have two to accommodate scheduling and makeup games ). In short, we would like to help your son or daughter become the best all around person that they can be while at the same time, learning the great game of soccer, developing their soccer skills to a high level and becoming part of team. Try-Outs Flyer Player Fees:   - U11 and below - $650   - U12-U14 and up - $750   - U15-U19 and up - $575 Players must buy their uniform. The cost is typically around $100 Included in the fees would be: Professional coaching All appropriate league registrations and fees Two tournaments per season additional tournaments will be paid for by each team) Winter indoor season of training Additional expenses for players may include: Additional tournaments and associated fees (such as registration, hotels, misc expenses) Additional league play during the indoor season as determined by individual teams Personal Travel expenses Each player's parents will also be expected to volunteer for the Lions annual tournament and to participate in any fundraising activities that the club might sponsor.
